With the GDPR deadline rapidly approaching, the NEC Group hosted a free workshop for customers in February to explain what the implications will be on the events industry, and how the business will be taking action to manage personal data under the new rules.

Nicola Young, NEC Group Marketing Director, explains why this was an important event for the industry, and why the Vox was chosen as host venue.

Name of Event: GDPR Workshop -  a free to attend event for valued NEC Group clients

Date: 2nd February

No. of delegates: 130 delegates

Event objective:  To share information on upcoming General Data Protection Regulations and to explore the potential impact for live event industry.

What happened at the event? The event was a fantastic opportunity for event industry professionals to come together, network and discuss a key industry topic.  Speakers from both the NEC Group and external legal advisors presented to the delegates, covering off the basics of GDPR, its implications and the plan for the NEC Group. We demonstrated how we will be managing our own data and the data of our clients. There was also opportunity for delegates to ask questions with an interactive Q&A.

Why the Vox? For the number of delegates we were expecting, the Vox was the perfect choice of all the NEC venues. The conference room was flexible enough to be made the perfect size so the delegates didn’t feel lost or overcrowded and the venue gives such an intimate, yet relaxed atmosphere. It was also a great opportunity to showcase our newest, premium venue to people who may not yet have experienced it.

Success! The Vox team were excellent to work with.  They provided advice and guidance at each stage of the logistics planning  and were on hand throughout the event to offer support.  They were incredibly flexible in accommodating our needs, even when we decided on a late change to our agenda and sprang an extra coffee break to boost the energy of our delegates.
